YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED BY

B.VAUGHN MARSHALL  AND YVONNE KAY MARSHALL

 (aka Mom & Dad)

TO BROWSE THROUGH

OUR COLLECTION OF FAMILY HISTORIES & PHOTOS

Periodically, people would ask Mom and Dad for information regarding our family history. This made them realize the easiest way to share this would be on our own “Family Web Site”.  We are happy to say it is now available for all interested to view at their convenience.

    Vaughn & Yvonne

Dad - was a writer at heart, and he enjoyed a good poem. You can read some of his work under -  Poems - B.Vaughn Marshall or (dads-poems.php) He was also in the process of writing a Novel, however it never was finalized, before he died in 1998.

Mom - was an artist, and painted lovely, beautiful pictures, some of were sold, others given to family, and  are shown here under PAINTINGS - Yvonne Kay Marshall, or (moms-paintiings.php)

In the year 2006 it was time for our mom to leave this world, and to be with our dad who had passed away in 1998. To be with him again, together forever.

I thank mom, for her foresight and guidance in getting this website going. This was a fantastic idea. Together I (Colette) and mom, had started to gather information, and had fun exploring some places looking for family. We sometimes tried to following a chain of events, to piece our giant family puzzle together.

Exploring our family history is more than just informative, it brings a sense of togetherness. And  Families are to be together, now and always.

Graduated with Honors receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in June 1956

What he did from here on included many things, mainly becoming what a good husband and father would do. Which involve many selfless acts of giving of his time, and putting aside a lot of his wants.

He excelled in his work research, which took him to different states but mainly to T-3 Ice island North of Alaska many times. His work was often done with little notice, not having achieved that all important Masters Degree from Stanford University, as he had started out to do years before. Nonetheless, he did his work as if he had accomplished this. It was not usually public, but very much appreciated and needed. As you can see in a letter from the chains of command his hard work was noticed at times. In the following Dad had actually done the improvements in the probes and recording etc. From Dad’s history “About Vaughn”

“ Dear Art: Ken Hunchins has returned from the Arctic and has been telling us about your successful heat-flow program during the summer. We would be most interested in seeing the preliminary results when they are available. Ken also reported that you had made some improvements in the probes used, and in the recording technique. Any information you have along this line will, of course, be of great value to us. We are sending along some of our most recent results, as yet unpublished. The scatter of the data gets more puzzling as more numbers come in.Please pass on our regards to B. Vaughn Marshall; in fact, he is probably in a better position to answer most of this letter.Sincerely yours, Marcus G. Langseth”

 Some of Dad’s hobbies were:

Gardening - Enjoyed being out in the yard. Loved to grow all sorts of plants and trees, took the care to nurture each one and was very patient as they grew.

Reading – Enjoyed all kinds of books. We refer to his collection as Dad’s library.

Writing - He loved to write. He'd been working on a novel for his enjoyment, but had written quite a few poems, some humorous, serious and then interesting. As you may see - - Dad's Poems

Collecting Rocks - Each one of course was different and unique with a story of its own to tell. He would love to look them over carefully and inspect them and appreciated each one.

I'd like to also thank Diane Wintch, for her help in getting this web page up. I appreciated her advise on how to work with pictures, although I'm still learning of course. She has a beautiful genealogy website, www.dianneelizabeth.com/index.html - Dianne Elizabeth's Family History - and has done much in the field of genealogy and website design.

 Music

Mom loved the Piano, she started playing when she was about fourteen, in seventh grade. She was able to take lessons and practice when she was living with Aunt Dot. She continued playing at home on the piano she loved. After she was married, her dad, John B. KAY, gave the piano to her as a gift, he bought himself an organ.

Yvonne KAY Marshall loved the classical melodies of Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Tchaikovsky. She has also taught her children and now some of her grandchildren.

  Talents and Hobbies

Ever since she can remember, she has loved to color and draw. Her first official art class was in Junior High School, she took to it naturally and created some beautiful paintings throughout the years. After moving to Arlington Washington she volunteered to do the bookkeeping for the Marysville Art Guild for a couple years. This brought her back into the limelight of enjoying her favorite hobby even more. She’s painted beautiful pictures for each of us children, and has sold some of her masterpieces upon request. Here you can see some of mom's beautiful paintings. moms-paintiings.php

 Genealogy

Mom had a great interest in genealogy. Which is what this website is all about. She’d been doing quite a bit of research. Also helping others who were interested in their family history, she would help them find how to research their families. She had definitely got the genealogy “bug”, or passion and felt the thrill in finding our relatives.

More

Mom has, in the past, knitted, crocheted and sewed many things. Making everything from prom dresses to wonderful decorations. She had a knack for making things look beautiful with her artistic talents.

Check back every so often, I'll be adding more information as I find it. I'll also continue to make improvements to our website,
